On July 22 we hosted our very first ever Meetup! We transformed our every day office at Spacefy HQ into party central for Creative Meetup: Filmmaker Edition. Creative folks from all walks of life came through the doors: actors, musicians, and of course, filmmakers!

Adam Booth, Brenton Mowforth, and Dan Slater joined us to talk about their business West & Social. They gave us some interesting insights into the business of film production, including the process of making a concept trailer.

Traditionally, the trailer follows a completed film to give the audience a preview of the full length feature. With a concept trailer, the process is reversed: the trailer is produced before any of the film has been shot. What is the benefit to doing this? Having a concept trailer gives you the opportunity to show what you're capable of: writing, directing, and shooting a film. Armed with a concept trailer you can go to the market and 'shop your script' with the goal of getting funding to make the full film. Investors want to know that they're putting their money into something good, and your concept trailer can prove that. The concept trailer screened at our event was shot in Death Valley with 40 people coming together to make a two and a half minute trailer (go team!).

Afterwards, everyone mingled and was merry, but don't take our word for it, check out a few photos below....
