Buffer Festival has become the world’s largest international "digital-first" film festival. Running into its seventh year, the Toronto-based event showcases video premieres and brings together the best of the best when of digital creators. This past October, Spacefy was proud to be part of the digital film festival and to support Buffer’s mission of encouraging today's filmmakers, and helping to educate up-and-coming creators.
The festival’s conference series, Context at Buffer, has grown to become a major highlight of the festival. The 2019 edition served up some great highlights, such as LA-based creator Swoop on “How I Lost 600k Subscribers Overnight”, and JFL President Bruce Hills on how social media is creating a new path for emerging comedy performers. After a full day of compelling talks, creators and attendees were treated to a cocktail reception, sponsored by Spacefy.
Premiere screenings and red carpet meetups were held on Saturday, October 5th and was followed by the Excellence Awards Gala on the final day of the festival. Previous years' attendees have included Scarborough, Ontario-born YouTube sensation Lilly Singh, and fellow Canadian digital stars Matthew Santoro and EpicMealTime.
